Climate compatible development

Research project funded by PBRF and FRDF. These interrelated projects looked at: reviewing the Auckland Unitary Plan in terms of climate change adaptation and emissions reductions (with Kate Scanlen); creating a climate compatible development matrix (with Kate Scanlen); research into the legal/insurance aspects of climate change planning (with Prue Taylor and Kate Scanlen); and reviewing climate change adaptation community engagement (with Julia Maskill).

In addition, Dr Stephen Knight Lenihan’s Research and Study Leave 2018-19 focused on the use of ecological enhancement as part of managing for climate change and biodiversity values. The study reviewed the use of biodiversity net gain and offsetting concepts in the United Kingdom, and ecological enhancement in Europe. Also reviewed the overlap between climate compatible development in the City of Vancouver and New York City.
